What to do if Accountable doesn’t (yet) have all the features you need?

ccountable already covers many common tax situations, but there are still some features we don’t (yet) offer. Here’s what you can do if we don’t currently provide everything you need for your specific situation.

1. Check for alternatives or workarounds

Many so-called “special cases” can actually be handled with a simple solution, even if the feature isn’t directly visible.

For example:

  • Certain business expenses can be correctly assigned using an appropriate category

  • Income can be recorded under a different category

  • Missing receipt types can be documented cleanly in a free-text field

  • Specific tax cases for which we already offer workarounds (e.g., certain side income or mixed activities)

If you’re unsure, just reach out – we can show you if an elegant workaround exists.


2. Use our team’s support

Just because a feature is missing doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Our team is here to help:

  • We’ll review your situation with you

  • We’ll explain how to enter your data correctly regardless

  • We’ll show possible alternatives until the feature is released

Especially with tax questions, you can contact us anytime – we almost always find a solution, even if the app doesn’t automatically cover it yet.


3. Check our roadmap: Many features are already in progress

Some features aren’t missing permanently – they just aren’t live yet.

We’re continuously working to cover all common self-employment cases.

Frequently requested features coming soon include:

  • Additional tax forms

  • Expanded accounting categories

  • Cash ledger

  • More import/export options

If something is especially important to you, let us know – the more requests we get for a feature, the higher its priority becomes.


4. Important exception: When your tax situation doesn’t fit Accountable

There are rare cases where the app isn’t the right solution for your situation, such as very complex scenarios:

  • Self-employed with two tax numbers

  • Businesses required to do double-entry bookkeeping

  • E-commerce operators

  • UG or GmbH companies

If this applies to you, we’ll tell you openly – our goal is to make sure your taxes are handled correctly.

But we won’t leave you in the dark: we’ll explain exactly what’s missing and which external steps you can take instead.


5. How you can help us improve Accountable

We’re actively developing Accountable, and every piece of feedback helps make the app better.

You can support us by:

  • Reporting missing features

  • Explaining exactly what you need and why

  • Providing example cases

  • Letting us know if it’s a recurring or one-time situation

This helps us decide which features to prioritize and how to design them.


Conclusion: Even if a feature is missing, you’re not alone

Accountable is constantly growing, and many missing features are already on our roadmap.

If you’re in a situation the app doesn’t yet support, there’s almost always a workaround or personal support available.

And if your situation is truly outside the app’s scope, we’ll tell you transparently – including a recommendation for how to handle your taxes correctly.
