Legally not yet, though in most cases a virtual copy of your document will be sufficient.
Indeed, the physical proof of your expense can be requested in case of tax audit. This is handy in case the Tax Authority argues those receipts have been altered over time.
In most cases though, a virtual copy will be sufficient, as protected by the Digital Act, passed in the Belgian Tax Code in 2018.
Hence we suggest you to keep all your receipts in a secure place you will only need to open in case of complex tax audit. You will not need to physically send your papers to anyone on monthly/quarterly or yearly basis. A metal shoebox should suffice 😉.
