Who is Swan?🦢

You just created a business account with Accountable or are considering using one? Here you will find all the information about our banking partner:

Written by Isabel Senden

🏦 Our Banking Partner

As a user of Accountable Banking, you have the option to open your own IBAN account. This account isn't held by Accountable itself, but is provided by our partner Swan SAS a company based in France (company number 853827103).

📋 So what exactly is Swan?

Swan is an electronic money institution authorised to provide payment services by the French prudential supervisory authority, the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR). 🇫🇷

This means Swan isn't a traditional bank in the classic sense, but operates under a European e-money licence. This distinction matters, as it comes with a few practical consequences for your account. For example, we're not able to offer a German "Pfändungsschutzkonto" (P-account), since this type of account is legally reserved for traditional banks only.

🔒 Is my money still safe?

Yes! Even though Swan isn't a "traditional" credit institution, it's subject to strict regulatory requirements set by the ACPR. Your balance is kept separate from Swan's own company funds and safeguarded in accounts held at other banks (safeguarding), so your money is protected.

🔗 How do Accountable and Swan work together?

Simple: you'll keep using the Accountable app for your banking, bookkeeping, and support, nothing changes there.

Behind the scenes, though, it's Swan that provides the actual banking services: your IBAN, your card payments, and your transfers.

These payment services are integrated directly into your account and are governed by Swan's terms and conditions, which you can check anytime on this page.
