My income tax prepayments were not received by the FPS

How to check that your advance payments were correctly recorded under your name at the FPS, and what to do if they weren't.

Written by Romain

💡 How the structured communication for your advance payments works

When you make an advance payment, the FPS Finances does not identify you by your name, but by the structured communication used for the payment. That communication is generated from your national registry number, so it alone determines which taxpayer the payment is attributed to.

⚠️ What can go wrong

If an error slipped into one of the digits of your national registry number, the structured communication that was generated can be technically valid while actually corresponding to a different taxpayer. In that case, the payment does leave your account, but it may have been attributed to someone else.

ℹ️ Your money is not lost. It is a matter of reattributing the payment to the right taxpayer, which the FPS can do once your file has been checked.

👉 How to check

  1. Check your national registry number in Accountable.

    → Open your account settings and make sure your national registry number is entered correctly. Correct it if needed, so that your next payments use the right structured communication.

  2. Check your payments on MyMinfin.

    → Log in to MyMinfin to confirm that your advance payments were recorded under your name.

  3. Contact the FPS if something is missing.

    → If a payment does not appear or was not attributed correctly, get in touch with the Advance Payments Department of the FPS Finances. For payments made in 2026, a correction is still possible, so report them without waiting too long.

📄 What information to send the FPS

When you contact the FPS, explain that you noticed a material error when making your advance payments, linked to an issue with how the structured communication was generated. To let them analyse your file, ideally send them:

  • your national registry number;

  • the incorrect structured communication you used;

  • the dates and amounts of the payments made with that communication;

  • the bank account the payments were made from;

  • preferably, a bank statement or a screenshot of the corresponding debit.

On that basis, the FPS can check your situation and confirm the correct structured communication to use for your next payments.

💳 How to reach the Advance Payments Department
