What happens to my data if I cancel my Accountable subscription?

When you cancel your Accountable subscription, you will no longer be able to file tax returns with Accountable, and a few other features will change. However, your data remains safely stored. Here’s everything you need to know:

Will my data be preserved?

Yes.
All receipts, invoices, bookings, and tax documents will remain in your account - even after cancellation. You will not lose any data, and nothing is deleted automatically.

Can I still export my data after canceling?

Yes, anytime.
Even without an active subscription, you can still:

  • Export your data (Excel export)

  • Download your receipts (original document export)

  • Back up your accounting data

  • Access invoices and other documents

Exports remain available so that you can comply with your tax retention obligations at any time.

Exception: BWA export, DATEV export, PDF export & asset export are not available in the free version.

Do I need to export my data before canceling?

No, not necessarily.
You can export your data before or after cancellation.
There’s no deadline by which you must save your data.

Can I still access my account after canceling?

Yes.
You can continue to log in with your existing credentials.

What changes:

  • No access to the web version

  • You can no longer submit tax returns

  • Premium features are no longer available

But: The simplified accounting mode and export functions remain accessible.

Can I upgrade again later?

Yes.
You can reactivate your subscription at any time. All data and settings will be preserved.

How can I delete my account + my data after cancelling my Accountable subscription?

If you permanently want to delete your data you can delete your account and all your data directly in your app settings

  • Go to the main menu,

  • click on settings

  • and choose delete account.

You will then receive a confirmation email (for security reasons). Upon confirmation, all your data will be deleted from our servers.
