Overview

To open your Accountable Banking professional account, you need to upload proof that your business activity is officially registered.

This is required for regulatory reasons and is reviewed by our licensed banking partner Swan.

General document requirements:

All uploaded documents must meet the following standards:

  1. All pages of the document must be uploaded

  2. Each page must be fully visible and not blurry

  3. No information may be blacked out or hidden

  4. Screenshots are not accepted (only official PDF scans or clear photos of the original document)

If the document does not meet these criteria, it may be rejected, and you’ll need to upload something else.

What documents are accepted?

Below is an overview of the documents accepted by our banking partner.

If you are self-employed (Freelancer / Freiberufler)

You can upload:

  • The confirmation letter of your self-employment tax number

Together with either:

  • A recent tax assessment notice (Steuerbescheid)
    or

  • The Übertragungsprotokoll from your Fragebogen zur steuerlichen Erfassung

If you are registered as a business (Gewerbetreibender)

You can upload:

  • Your Gewerbeanmeldung (GewA 1)
    or

  • Your Gewerbeummeldung (GewA 2)

Please upload the most recent version if you have updated your registration.

Here is an example of each:

Alternatively

A recent Steuerbescheid (tax assessment notice) may also be accepted if:

  • It is not older than 2 years

  • It clearly shows income from your self-employment or business activity

Here is an example:

‼️ Important notice

The confirmation of your VAT-ID (Umsatzsteuer-Identifikationsnummer) is not accepted as proof of business registration.

Why do I need to upload this?

As a regulated financial setup, Accountable Banking is required to verify that your business activity is officially registered before opening a professional account.

This helps ensure compliance with European banking regulations.
