With Tap to Pay, you can accept contactless card payments from your customers using only your iPhone, no extra hardware, no card reader, and no fees for terminal rental. Just your phone and the Accountable app.
Step 1: Open Tap to Pay from the action menu
Open the Accountable app on your iPhone.
Tap the + (action) button on your home screen to open the quick action menu.
Select Tap to Pay on iPhone.
Step 2: Start the setup
You'll see a welcome screen explaining that you can get paid directly with your iPhone, no card reader needed.
Tap Set up now to begin.
Step 3: Set up your merchant profile
Next, you'll be asked to provide a few details about your business. This information is used to create your merchant profile and is reviewed before your account is activated.
Fill in the following fields:
Merchant name: this is the name your customers will see when paying you
Product type: choose what you sell:
Goods
Services
Virtual Goods
Gifts and Donations
Monthly expected volume: pick the range that best matches your business:
Less than 5,000 EUR
5,000 – 10,000 EUR
10,000 – 100,000 EUR
More than 100,000 EUR
Expected average transaction: the typical amount per payment, in €.
Link to your website or social media (optional): adding this helps speed up the review.
When everything is filled in, tap Continue.
Step 4: Wait for approval
Once your profile is submitted, you'll see a confirmation screen: "We're processing your profile request."
From here, our team will review your details. You'll receive both an email and an app notification as soon as your Tap to Pay profile is approved. ✅
As soon as approval comes through, you'll be able to start accepting card payments by simply tapping the customer's card (or their phone/watch) on the back of your iPhone.
Good to know 💡
Tap to Pay is currently only available on iPhone (iPhone XS or later, running a recent version of iOS).
You don't need any additional hardware or external card reader.
The merchant name you choose is visible to your customers, pick something they'll recognize.
Make sure your business details are accurate to avoid delays during the review.
